Cosford aircraft deliveries

Just a thought, which of the larger aircraft at Cosford arrived by air?

I remember seeing photos of the 707 on approach there but what about the VC10, Belfast, Comet etc?

Any photos? memories?

The Vulcan and Victor arrived by air and one of them just stopped with the nose over the boundary hedge by all accounts!!!!:8

I thought the Victor flew to RAF Shawbury and was then dismantled and taken by road to Cosford.

The Vulcan definetly arrived by air - i have a cutting from a newspaper that my grandparent's kept for me a long time ago that show's it arriving at Cosford and whilst being taxied went off into the grass and sunk into the very soft ground around the runway and sank up to it's axles.

The VC-10 flew in as did the 707. The captain of the VC-10 was Mike Riley. They waited for quite a while to get the right amount of wind on the nose.
