Shuttleworth D-Day Display piccies

A stunning display which was a fitting way to remember those who gave so much 60 years ago. It was marked by what was in my opinion the finest Spitfire display that I have ever seen. This followed on from a very nice display by Jumpin Jacques and some superb wizzbangs from the Me108 crew. Not to forget the superb display by the RAFGSA team

Haryplanes PT-22 looks stunning and sounds, well… different.

Finally a big thank you to Taifun who arranged for my mode of transport for the day and to James my Chauffeur. A Cracking day out Gromit.

I'm surprised it took you so long :D

Nice piccies, MOTF! :D

Are you coming to the dHMC Charity Weekend next weekend? Possibility of the DH Heron landing on the Sunday. It's a four engined Moff.

Man-on-the-fence 7th Jun 2004 10:22

VATCO

Not currently in my plans but I could be persuaded. I will need to consult the boss first as its one of "her" weekends. Hell I may even bring her along!!

BEagle 7th Jun 2004 11:21

The rear-three quarter shot of the Maggie (the top one) is virtuallu timeless. Crop it to widescreen to emphasize the panoramic view and it is quite superb! But so are your other shots - but this one has a true 'period' feel and could have been taken in 1940 (except that to get that quality you'd have needed a Leica!)

ASK R-21!! Nice to see she's still flying; she was our pride and joy at Wattisham in 1981 when we received her brand spanking new from the manufacturer!

Simtech 7th Jun 2004 20:51

Wonderful pictures MOTF. I'm glad the show went well but sorry I couldn't attend - I was on nights :(

I think I saw the Me108 while driving to work on Sunday evening. :ok: Small consolation! :{

Man-on-the-fence 7th Jun 2004 21:12

Thanks for your kind words chaps, they do mean a lot.

VATCO, will know on Friday about Sunday

Simtech , where and when. If it was flying I was in it (apart from the displays of course).

BEagle, the glider display is always superb. The first time I saw it it stopped me dead in my tracks. A magnificent display of airmanship.

A few more.

MOTF,

If it was you, it was about 1820 local, to the southwest of Bedford. I was on the Bedford bypass, heading for the A6 and EGGW.

Regards,

Simtech

The last photo I took at the end of our photo shoot was at about 6.13, so I guess it was us.

Simtech 7th Jun 2004 22:04

Great - I've seen you airborne, now look forward to meeting you in person at OW! :ok:

pigboat 8th Jun 2004 02:58

You've excelled yourself again MOTF, and that last atmospheric shot of the Maggie is a photo masterpiece....... Tres bien fait!

Salut!
