Thursday’s Comet

Just a heads up for those that don’t read the Talking Pictures TV schedules. Tomorrow (29th) they’re showing a 1966 IWM documentary about an RAF Comet flight to Singapore. Should be interesting and no doubt nostalgic for some.

Thanks for the heads up.
There's some really interesting and nostalgic stuff on that channel. Some is available on demand too.

Wow. Thanks for that link Argonautical

I was a service brat in the early 1960’s because my Dad was a service school teacher in Singapore and Hong Kong, so I remember those places very well.

I particularly remember the flight from Singapore to Hong Kong via Saigon in a Hastings in 1960.

Awesome to see view from the Argosy as it approached HK. The school my Dad taught at, and which I attended, was under short final on the approach to Kai Tak. It showed up quite clearly, and in close up, from the Argosy cockpit!

That bought back memories from 60+ years ago.

Many thanks again Argonautical for bringing the programme to my attention!!

Thanks for the feedback. The Hastings flight also brought back memories for me because I flew in one as an ATC cadet at Lindholme. It is worth keeping an eye on this station’s listings as they show some good stuff.
