US National Security Archive have just released a quantity of newly declassified documents that trace the beginnings of the Superpower Nuclear Arms Race.
It's a long read, but worth it if you're interested in the subject.

Thanks for posting, agree interesting stuff. Seems the WB-29's had been flying from various places for some time, looking for someone to do a test.
