Twin Pioneer

I am gathering material for a model-maker's book in the Warpaint series on the Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer and would like to hear from anyone that has good quality photos of the type in civil and military service, particular anyone who flew the type in RAF service in the Middle and Far East?. Also any unusual and rare colour schemes like Philippine Air Lines, Kuwait Oil Co etc?

We had one on loan in Bangkok (with crew) from Seletar in the early 60s. I have a few ( *grainy!) colour shots from that period in Thailand and Laos, if any use. PM if wanted.

I recall a similar request for photos of the Twin Pioneer aircraft several years ago on this thread. I will dig into my archives but I make no promises.

I agree; Flight One operated this one as well as G-AZHJ. However, Hunting Surveys leased one of them for some survey work, I think in the late 1980s. I used to fly the Huntings Dove and had the added pleasure of a ride in the right seat of Twin Pin ZHJ(?) while on a survey flight around the Home Counties. My ears have only now just about recovered.

As far as I remember, the “Hunting” one got as far as Muscat. Took them about two weeks and 50galls of oil to get there!

Sorry, no photos.

This is VH-AIS (C/N 540) at Bankstown, NSW on 17SEP72. At the time the aeroplane was configured for aeromagnetic survey.

It's actually one of the exhibits in an offshoot of the Melaka Transportation Museum (hence also the bit of railway track in the foreground) at Taman Bunga Merdeka (aka Coronation Park) in Melaka.

Wikipedia suggests the museum itself is now closed, but the Twin Pin was still there last month: https://www.netairspace.com/photos/F.../photo_293852/

JW411,

You sure that is 1967? Wouldn't it have been a bit 'sporty' there in 1967, and hadn't most families gone by then?

pr00ne. IIRC the families left about July time. This could have been earlier? I arrived early May '67, and I don't recall a families day.
