DGO in RAF Logbook - What does it mean?

Looking at a friend's father's RAF logbook, several flights in a Whitley simply record 'DGO' in the notes section. In each case the Duty column is either 'Ferry' or 'Air Test'. What does DGO mean?

Maybe the annotations are ‘DCO’ - the acronym for ‘Duty Carried Out’.

Discorde is almost certainly correct. You might also see "DNCO" against some entries - I'm sure you will be able to guess what that means.

Discorde & Shytorque, thanks for putting me right. Looking again at some other entries, the Gs and Cs are very similar.

The other one you might see is DPCO which is Part.

These terse remarks were usually from the Authorisation sheets which should have detailed all the details for the sortie. Often these would be very short too such as Ex Xxxxx as briefed. Near impossible to trace the details years later when the master documents may no longer exist.

It did, of course, have a parallel meaning in regard to relationships with the opposite sex !

You record you sexual activities in a logbook?? The mind boggles.

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. A "Top Secret: Nuclear" that very few of us are privy to.
