RAF Culmhead / Churchstanton
Could anyone tell me whether there is public access to any part of this airfield please? We are staying nearby shortly and I would love to have a look around without taking an organised tour!
Thanks!
Thanks!
See The Blackdown Hills Trust - The Blackdown Hills Trust which has some information regarding Churchstanton / Culmhead / Tricky Warren.

When there was a 'government radio station' on the aerodrome in the 1970s, I used to use it as a visual fix point whilst flying a Vulcan overhead at low level, knowing that the spies would never complain...
There's a pub nearby - see The Holman Clavel Inn - The Holman Clavel Inn .

Google "CSOS Culmhead" and it will bring up a few more results...
My dad worked there, post RAF, from 1983 until it closed in 1999.
Not heard it called Tricky Warren for many years! I'd also forgotten about the Holman Clavel, plenty of good places to eat in that part of the world.
