BAe ATP. What was wrong with it?
It's, inevitably, a bit more complicated than that, as the fuselages for the last ATP, and those two J61s, were all manufactured at Woodford and then trucked up to Prestwick for final assembly. As I understand it the last ATP and the first J61 had this done in 1992, the ATP was completed there and flown in May 1993, before the final Woodford-built ones, while it was another year before the sole J61 to be completed flew. As they were both then taken back to Woodford for further work, the whole exercise seems to have been somewhat futile.

That's not correct, as I said, the last ATP, 2063 was assembled at and flown from Woodford. I was Prestwick based at the time, believe me not much else was happening in 1992/93.

The first flight of 2064 with the registration G-JLXI was on 10 May 1994. Subsequently this aircraft went on to get certification for the J 61 (with ATP Set 1) and flew at Farnborough. It had wacky writing down the side trying to show turbulence giving way to smooth flight. This aircraft and ATP Set 1 (G-MATP and then G-PLXI) were the mainstay of the J61 programme and both contributed to the J 61 certification. Set 65 only flew a few times and my only flight would seem to be in Jan 96. There was some flying after this but the programme seemed to stop dead. Anyone know when the J61 programme stopped?

Incidentally, the J61 is/was actually certificated (by the CAA only) as the "Jetstream Series 6100 Model 6102".

With the wonderous advantage of 20/20 hindsight I cannot but wonder if the thread would better have been titled "What was right with the ATP?"
There again, that would most certainly have made for a very short thread.

Seeing photos
With ref to longer ron's post: if you right click on the broken image icon, you're offered "Copy image address." Take this, open a new window, post the address into the address bar (Ctrl-V) and Bingo! you see the picture.
This is with Chrome on Windows 10, but the mechanism looks fairly generic. Not an ideal procedure, but something until the problems are worked out.
Edit: this also works with the non-appearing Photobuggered images.

Whilst on a recent holiday in the Azores,walking on Sao Jorge Island,we walked up to the peak of Pico da Esperanca (1053 m).
Lovely walk but we knew it would take us past the very sad memorial to the worst ATP accident .
