I was looking into the history of an aircraft that I only flew once, but it brings back special memories, not the least of which was the short and sweet de-briefing.

“Close but no cigar”, but it is a helicopter.
No bananas here, not even baby ones!
I’m struggling to find a helicopter of the period that has a divided windscreen and no substantial downward glazing. There’s one that fits but I’d be amazed if India Four Two got to fly it as only one was built. The Higgins EB-1.
It is American. Not an Enstrom.

Slb is half right - it’s a Bell.
I wondered if XH-40 was an alternative name for my challenge and had to look it up. The panel in my picture is not the Huey prototype. This helicopter has a piston engine.

Well done Slb. That's the very video that I lifted my picture from. I was going to recommend the video too. A must-watch for anyone interested in helicopters.
The helicopter I flew was the Bell 47, which was developed from the Model 30. I couldn't find any reference to the missing numbers 31 to 46. Can anyone shed any light on that mystery?
The narrator of the video, Bartram Kelly, was the longtime Bell chief engineer, responsible for many of that company's significant helicopters:
