Please Help Me Identify Alpha RAF Flying Helme

I need your help please.

(Please someone tell me if I posted this in the wrong forum!)

I found an Alpha helmet with the serial number AL3G/4/A/5/X/6/XX printed inside.

I have looked at pictures online and it looks most like a Mk4 helmet, but it only has a single visor which is tinted.

I do intend to sell this helmet as I have no use for it, unless my old Ford Fiesta takes off! I suspect that e Bay is the way forward, but I would be most grateful for any advice.

It looks to be in good condition except that the thin black foam rubber inside has disintegrated, and the flexible concertina rubber pipe has a couple of holes at the bottom.

A friend of mine says he will be able to test the mic and ear-phones.

I am trying to attach some pictures - I hope it works.
Just in case here is a link to dropbox with some images:

Many thanks

I can't help you with the identification of your helmet but I can say that you probably won't have any trouble selling it on eBay.

When I had a clear out of my old ex-military flying gear (cloth inner helmets with electrics, bone-domes, H-type oxy masks etc) a few years ago I was astonished at the prices people were prepared to pay - veritable bidding wars, especially for the H-types! My old (and exceedingly battered) SD hats also found ready buyers but that's another story.

annadomini,

The Alpha Helmet is the designation given by Helmet Integrated Systems to their product sold into the civilian market and some overseas military. The latest, non-avionic type, UK Military helmets are, unsurprisingly, very similar.

If you wish further information, the Helmet Integrated Systems site has plenty of relevant content and publicity.

Still looking for an answer

Please, if anyone has any further ideas, do let me know.
I contacted the company that makes Alpha stuff and they said it was PROBABLY an Alpha 300. I still can't date it.

Thanks again
