I'm still nosing around this one. Interestingly, the Comet in the picture is known for one of the very first round the world trips. I'm also intrigued that the livery is slightly non-standard, missing the RAF writing along the fuselage.

I think the writing is there, is just washed out in the slightly overexposed photo.

I think Dave is right. Look at the various photos on this link especially the one of theC170/180 taking-off. The control tower has changed but the hangar is quite unique.

There's a couple of pictures here of XK669 at Naples in that colour scheme ( lower than normal cheat line, silver or natural metal fin & rudder)

I was at Negombo/Katunayake 1957 and took these photos there. Far side of the runway was notable for the coconut palm plantations.

These were taken looking across the runway from the ATC dispersal area.

What a wonderful line-up:
TWA Connie
RAF Comet
2 x Valiants
2 x Shacks
Hastings
Valetta
and a RCYAF Dove - I think!

Entebbe Airport 1952 - 1962

the trees certainly look like Africa and the control tower looks very similar
