Cranfield today - Vulcan
Being at Cranfield today, all work stopped whilst we all got a free display from XH558.
Firstly, thanks to the Vulcan to the Sky people as seldom have I lost half an hour's work for a more enjoyable reason.
Second, does anybody know what it was doing here?

Was walking through farmland in Woburn Sands when I suddenly heard the Vulcan howl followed by a very low flypast straight over head!
No idea what she could have been doing, her display season is officially over so it will only be private displays/movements from now on.
Maybe it is to do with the fact that the chairman or chief pilot (or other high ranking member of VTTS, can't remember who) is local to the area. You'll see him driving around in his Jag with num plate "RAF 1", which you also see behind the tent at airshows!

According to a social website, they were up flying with the Blades and possbily a Spitfire at Sywell for raffle prize winners - used Cranfield for practise display... Wish I was back down in Bedfordshire now and again, and this is one of those times!!! You can follow XH558 on this well known social website = @XH558

My wife went blackberrying in the Cranfield area this afternoon, and had great delight in telling me when she got home how fantastic the aircraft looked and sounded!!!
Pity I didn't know in advance - maybe there's a moral here somewhere...

"Excellent picture that first one in your series, thank you "
Cheers, very happy, I don't have an SLR at the moment, so that was with my Fuji Compact camera, with the Sun not in the ideal position.
Still, it did help he was skimming the roof of my house

Sadly it seems some of the best displays get flown at places where there's hardly anyone about. Lucky for the few who get to see it though.
Not sure why they needed to waste valuable engine cycles with a practice at Cranfield anyway seeing as they're past the end of their display season.

Remember seeing XH558 at Cranfield circa 1991 for its advertised last ever public flying display, with "Farewell" written inside its bomb bay. Glad neither ended up being true

That first picture is amazing, cool, slightly sinister, and for a machine that old it still looks like something from the future. Brilliant!
Paxing All Over The World
Yes, that first pic looks GREAT with the curious exposure!
Was fortunate to see her at the Bournemouth show a few weeks ago = Perfect. Also saw the Blades for the first time = Bunch of Bonkers Boys!
