RAF Children's Christmas Party 1951

In the good old days stations organised children's parties to celebrate Christmas.

At 5 FTS (RAF Thornhill, S. Rhodesia) the children's party was organised for all kids and included the arrival of Santa Claus by Avro Anson as seen in my photos below.

It's a sobering thought that all those fresh-faced youngsters photographed welcoming Santa way back in 1951 will now be in their 60's!

Don't leave us in suspenders pr00ne, please tell us what you find strange about that remark.

What is strange about RAF stations holding Christmas parties for the children ?
What is strange about a serving member of the RAF enjoying themselves in Rhodesia in 1951 ?

I can remember the childrens party at RAFCAW Manby in 1965. I received the Airfix Avro Lancaster kit worth 7/6d thats 37and a half pence today ! I was very pleased as I got half a crown pocket money aged 12. The RAF really looked after us with nice party food and presents.

Don't ask as pr00ne will only get on his soapbox yet again.

He is probably in mourning at the moment over the death of Kim in N Korea
