The Canadian Joint Air Training Centre (see the sign on the tower) was at CFB Rivers, Manitoba... An interesting article on the web asserts that the large hangar in the background is haunted!! Spooky stuff.

If it is indeed Karst geology in that area , would that point to Italy or Slovenia? (If only because they are the only two large Alpine countries that haven't been mentioned!)

And we have a winner. It is Bovec in Slovenia. Taken from outside the Fire station. A most unexpected find, drove round the corner and I just knew it was going to make an appearance on this thread when I returned home.

Ver nice looking spot Nvubu - and thanks to the question I now relaise a lot of people fly int osme VERY narrow valleys in C Europe!!
