Which Aerodrome Mk III
dook,
As a long time player of this game, I would like to point out (very gently) that, while there are no official rules, there is generally a tacit agreement not to use Image Search.

Are we in the Pacific Theatre again?

Are you sure that is But?
If the challenge photos show somewhere on the north coast of New Guinea then there looks like there is a 90 degree bend in the coastline around the western end of the runway, which is also very close to the sea.
I can't see anything like that at But.

Fairly certain as the contemprary documents I have access to name the location as "But"
I was going to post an image from the same batch, but GI search matched it to the 6th image on this page at PacificWrecks- the overheads on that site look like a match - also just discovered that it also has a combination of my first and last image on it as well - here

Thanks, nvubu, always enjoy your challenges.
I guess that what looks like the coastline wrapping around the western threshold isn't the coastline. Sometimes hard to tell with low resolution black & white images.
The reason I am so interested in this one is that I have flown along that coastline many times in the past. Wewak - Vanimo DC3s late 1960s. Generally at low level (very low!) in order to look at the many wartime wrecks that were still visible in the area. However I don't remember any airfields with a threshold so very close to what looks like the the water's edge so you had me searching around Rabaul and some of the islands around there where the Japanese were well established.
