Well done. I wondered if someone would put two and two together.

I didn't take the photo, but it's Graeme Bethell's Mustang. A very odd shadow, due to the sun-azimuth combined with photographic foreshortening. A natural for this thread.

Noyade has control.

Evansb,
Have to agree with you - looks a lot like the McDonnell XF-88 but the rear fuselage has a smoother lower profile.

A small company, you say. What type of aircraft did they produce?

I want go to sleep,

so the aircraft was the Goodyear GA-16 single seat penetration fighter
project for the same competition for XF-88 and XF-90.

Open House.

As Goodyear produced over 5,000 Corsairs under contract from Vought, I wonder if the GA-16 wasn't inspired in whole or in part by Vought designers. I'm not discounting the creative ability of Goodyear's own engineers, but I believe there was probably some influence from Vought in this design. Vought produced some real post-war stinkers, like the Pirate and Cutlass. The GA-16 at least looks like it would perform more than adequately.

Excellent challenge by the way.

Perhaps the Bernard 191GR Oiseau Canari

I'll be away for a few hours. OPEN HOUSE in the unlikely event that my guess is correct.

The Oiseau Canari (Yellow or Canary Bird) was a French aircraft... first French aircraft to fly the Atlantic - I think.
