Hawker Hurricane's return to North Weald.

A few shots from today's Hurricane pilots reunion held at the 'Squadron' at this famous former Battle of Britain Aerodrome.

It was great to see four Hurricanes together again, albeit on the ground. It was especially nice to see the Shuttleworth Sea Hurricane making a rare appearance away from home.

Batchy.

Lovely photos.

Are there other places where four Hurricanes could be together?

(incidentally, how many are there airworthy?)

Hi Russell,

There are currently 12 airworthy examples worldwide;

6 in the UK.
3 in the US.
2 in Canada
1 in NZ although this may now be in Australia.

N/Weald Hurricanes

Wonderful pics Gary
Great to see the pics of the Hurricane on the turf at N/Weald -- & to see some of the WW11 heros with them --- are you able to name the Veterans & todays pilots please? -- it would be nice to have them from left to right if poss.

As a young lad in WW11 I cycled to the perimeter of N/Weald to get sneek views of the Hurricanes based there, but every time the guards would tell us in no uncertain ways to CLEAR-OFF.
Thanks for posting such great pics,

Dustyone
