PULLEN Tested girocopter demoted to Drouge pilot

I am looking for details of a WWII pilot but I only have his surname of Pullen
Pullen was asked to test one of the early girocopters. He felt it so unsafe that he took it out to sea. He then crashed it into deep water so it could not be recovered and others didn't have to fly it. Then he swam ashore.
For this he was demoted and put on drogue towing, possible somewhere near Weston Zoyland about 1942-4. He was killed while towing, as was with his winchman. Date uncertain.

Sorry I can't be more specific.

Cheers Motherbird
