Gnats

not sure if someone knows the answer......but there are probably a few with an opinion......

in the current market, what with the credit crunch, and the price of jet fuel in a year's time including excise duty.....

what would be a fair price for a good condition and operational Gnat ?

This rare classic (only 105 made) swept wing fighter / trainer was the Red Arrows' aircraft of choice for 15 years. The Red Arrows are the British Royal Air Force's elite aerobatic team, the UK's equivalent of the USA's Blue Angels.

Don't you just hate it when they say "British Royal Air Force"

Maintaining the beast is even more fun though...depending on your interpretation of "fun" of course .....based on one's acquaintance with the type some years ago...

The problem with buying a Gnat not on or ever been on the Uk reg can be very expensive and long winded.
most mods on the jet undertaken in the Us are not allowed here in the UK.

so, to get a good one here, even in these times around 120k is about right.
they are also quite frugal on fuel when compared to similar performing jets.

Thumbs up The Folland T Mk 1

Can't help on price but I can state that this type is a joy to fly.
Trans-sonic with 420 degrees per second rate of roll.
Just strap it on your back and enjoy its beautiful perfomance.
I was lucky to win No.75 course aerobatic comp. in XP502 at 4 FTS Valley in 1974. What a day that was.
