So far LM is closest with the C3.....
I feel I should put you out of your misery before someone else comes on line and gets it!
What other clues can I offer:
- one of the other engine options was a Salmson (and I've already said its not a C1)

Thats the C4, or at least a variant....nope, not the Junior Speedmail.
I don't believe this...I thought as soon as I said no to the C3 you would get this straight away.
Its in Aerofiles, although they do not provide a picture of the Curtiss (OX-5) powered machine....

First time on since Tuesday, and I feel a bit mean about this, it doesn't have the aileron tie rods and it seems to have all the engine options in the clues,
Can I say very quietly C2 ?
If it is, then Open House please as coffee break's over, and sorry to RR and LM after all their hard work. Seems like I missed some fun yesterday too!!!

Talk about going round the houses.
SincoTC beat you to it RR by 2 mins....its the Stearman C2. There were 3 variants with the OX-5, the C1, C2 and C3A. But out of those only the C1 and C2 had Salmson engine options. And only the C2 and C3 had the Wright engine option. The reason (other than numerical) that I said that LM was closest with the C3, was that at least one, if not all C2's were converted to C3's.
Yep, it was a fun day yesterday too Sinco! You should try and stick around if you can!

Yes, a voyage of discovery! I knew I was close, though, with my reference to US naval types......

Re the Stearman.
I thought I was too. Spent over ten minutes looking logically at the C2 but nothing matched.
Now having a Scotch instead of tea or coffee, and it only takes one minute to prepare skytrain!

Hi LM
I'm presuming you were using Aerofiles.....the pictures they have for the C2 don't really give you the right angle, and of course they dont have a photo of the OX-5 powered beast. Still it was good fun....as I feared though, a certain person took advantage of all the hard work!
Cheers....!
