Vulcan Flight testing?

The Vulcan must be getting near to being ready for flight testing and then airshow display authorisation, does anyone know when this is likely to take place and where please?

The Vulcan IS close to being ready, but as yet no test flight information has been given.

Your best bet is to use the offical site http://www.vulcantothesky.org/ and subscribe to the free weekly newsletter.

Also check out the weekly Engineering updates, and you can also browse the engineering part of the forums for the latest news on how things are progressing.

Hope this helps.

It's getting there but I think they're trying to work out what to do about the corrosion that's started on 3 engines.

Let's hope that a solution is imminent .....

VULCAN – XH558
"We know that many of you have noticed that the Vulcan to the Sky website indicates that their first display this summer will be at the Cosford Air Show whereas our website does not include XH558 in the flying programme. We have agreed with the Trust that Vulcan will attend the Cosford Air Show but we are aware that, as yet, she has not flown this year. With a week to go before our show it still remains distinctly possible for Vulcan to attend but after her winter service she will have to achieve at least one flight beforehand and hence there is still some risk she will not make it. We remain hopeful the Vulcan will attend but, like you, we can do little but keep our fingers crossed."

The latest engineering update: Vulcan To The Sky News

I'd assume a shakedown flight before embarking on the display season, but as yet that's unconfirmed.

However, the engineers are as eager as anyone to get 558 back in the air....safely.

Fingers crossed all goes well this coming week.

With the Cosford practice display scrubbed, can we still hope for an appearance on Sunday?

was she due to appear at Cosford yesterday? I haven't seen anything to say she was. I thought it was airtest then straight to Brize with a Cosford apppearence on Sunday.

DP, a practice display over Cosford before going onto Brize was listed on the Twitter service.

As that comes from 'the man on the ground' so to speak, I can only assume that was their intent.

Display Times

Does any one know what time the Flying Display at Cosford is due to commence and what time the Vulcan is scheduled to display. I can not find a copy of the flying programme anywhere ?

I've been looking for that too. I am assuming the flying display will start around 12-12.30 given that it's 5 hours duration. Made up that the weather is looking good and XH558 looks good to go. Missed out on her last year and was '93 at Finningley last time I saw her.

I was there at Brize and saw the whole display. I really enjoyed the day, I took both photos and video. I would upload the photo if I can figure out how!
