The Tiger was refurbished by the Mobile Glider Servicing Flight at Cosford and was then test flown for a couple of hours. The aircraft then was flown out midweek, I assumed back to the strip at Long Mountain. The next weekend, four members of the group turned up at Cosford wondering where their aircraft was. Apparently the 'leader' of the group had dissapeared with the aircraft. I heard later that he had sold the Tiger and pocketed the money. Six months after this I was told that a legal battle was going on to recover the money. Never heard any more.

Is the Long Mountain strip still in existence. It's been a long time since I went there, they had a few very pleasant fly-ins/VAC meets.

Story in the 70's was that the Tiger was maintained by the local garage and operated without the knowledge/involvement of the CAA!
I loved going to Long Mountain; always a warm welcome.

G-anjk

Just passed this old girl being trailered out of South Wales this afternoon on the m4 east near Cardiff. Looked a bit of a sorry state no wings or tail plane just the fuselage the reg had been scrubbed off the sides but managed to make it out. Would be nice to think it was going to be made airworthy again.

Had a couple of trips out of there in the mid-60s in the Tiger. Thought the pilot's name was Claude(?)
