Sorry, not the Hughes H-1. The mystery aircraft is from the 1950s.

More hints: The aircraft lost out on a design competition for the U.S. armed forces. Only 20 were produced, most going to the Saudia Arabian Air Force. Only 3 aircraft remain, all on the U.S. registry.

This one was not a flying boat or seaplane. It was european though.

The single prototype R-32 was sold to the Spanish Republicans, but remained in Belgium.

Thanks Mel. That R-32 looks a bit like a Lysander. Here is one somewhat newer and not as rare.

Interesting. Cockpit Canopy similar to the SIPA Minijet but I know it isnt the cockpit of the Minijet. Same era?

This aircraft first flew in 1956. Over 600 were produced.
The engine is American, but the airframe was designed and built elsewhere.
