Re post 414
Hi etsd0001,
This is definitely Fleetlands in Gosport as I took this photo myself around 1986 when they had an open day (I have never been to or heard of Helston Park). If I remember correctly they had an old Bristol Sycamore on display as well but because of it's dilapidated condition I never photographed it,
Kind regards,
Bob

Hi etsd001,
I have researched the history of Fairy Gannet XG931 and have discovered that it was indeed at Helston from 1984 - 2009 when it moved to Davidstow in Cornwall. I also looked at Fleetlands and they celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1990 which is when I must have taken my photo as I do not recall them having frequent open days. I can only assume the Gannet was on loan for this occasion,
Kind regards,
Bob

Ambassador Locale
Hi Cyflyer, I got these pics from an ex RAF Navigator some 40 years ago. I think that this shot was taken at the same place the York, Belfast and Beverley shots were taken..either Malta or Akrotiri..cant' remember
Thanks for replying cac_sabre. They don't all look like they are the same place. I'm trying to establish if its Nicosia. Akrotiri, no, forget it for sure. The Argosy, Belfast, and Beverley shots do look like Malta, looking at the background. The Skyways York, and BEA Ambassador not sure, either Malta or Nicosia.
In the York photo, could you do a maximum resolution scan of the bit covering the building and Viking parked infront of it at the left of the photo and just crop that small bit ? I'll recognise if its the Nicosia tower. On the Ambassador, the bit showing the flags above the cockpit and the name on the fuselage under the cockpit.

Re: Zurakowski
Does anyone know of a photo of Polish pilot Zurakowski doing several cartwheels in a special engine test Meteor (? One DH Ghost??) at the Farnborough Air Show back in the 50s? I saw it but still find it difficult to believe what I saw.

Pathe video here of "Zurabatics" in the Meteor at Farnborough '51 - clip starts around the two minute mark - he also did the same trick in the CF-100.

The Gannet is pictured at Cornwall Aeropark. An image search on Google shows numerous images of the same aircraft from different angles in exactly the same location - at the Cornwall Aeropark!
