B27/24 EXP DELAYS AND RESTRICTIONS FOR SYDNEY AIRPORT AND ADJACENT AIRSPACE
DUE SPECIAL EVENT
FROM 01 260000 TO 01 260930
Sydney.

neville_nobody 26th Jan 2024 05:35

Why couldn’t they just use the radar departure and vector everyone around display area?

I assume this snap shot wasn’t taken during a unforecasted runway change due weather. There has been a bit of that going on everywhere lately.
That sort of event will cause this kind of pile-up as they taxi everyone to the other end.

Love it! ROTFALMAO!

How typically Australian…..Trying to outdo the YMML RWY 16 car park look?

Australia … Centre of Excellence in mediocrity …

And the military finding another way of wasting public money both directly and indirectly!

What was the celebration? RAAF withdrawing from ONE SKY / CMATS after blowing ?? $5 Billion …

Rumours, rumours, rumours

Seriously?

You'd have got a similar screenshot when Qantas did their A350 flyover on Sydney. All airlines delayed and incurring costs burning fuel to facilitate QF PR.

Wow, I heard the same rumour just in the last 24hr. And not just RAAF walking away, despite having blown the project timeline out by having 'special requirements'. Cant imagine anyone want to be the minister/CEO holding the bag when this one comes to light.

This was before the weather change. Those parked up must be just waiting for the fly boys to finish impressing. Wonder who issues this NOTAM for this with any authority?

Maybe the radar departure doesn't provide radar separation area from the aerobatic volume?! Would be marginal at a guess?

They can't even confirm you have the correct ATIS, due man/lady power... how can you expect them to radar vector?

Excellent question.

Nothing operating on the parallels would be clear of the TRA. RWY 07/25 closed (NOTAM). No doubt the ATFM Daily Plan covered everything in detail.

Due to the close proximity of TRA SYDNEY HARBOUR DISPLAY to Sydney International Airport, aircraft operating at YSSY may experience some additional delay around the TRA activation times.
Note to self: Don't fly around lunchtime on Australia Day.

Extra Note to Self: Take the RIS 😆

Melbourne FIR NOTAM, YMMM search.

C31/24
TRIGGER NOTAM SUP H01/24
SYDNEY HARBOUR AUSTRALIA DAY 2024 AIRSPACE RESTRICTIONS
AVBL FM AIRSERVICES WEBSITE
WWW.AIRSERVICESAUSTRALIA.COM/AIP/AIP.ASP
SFC TO 6500FT AMSL
FROM 01 260100 TO 01 261400
YSSY search doesn't have the NOTAM listed, odd when the AIP SUP references the traffic restrictions applying to YSSY.

It was f'ing MILES AWAY! aren't our so called "Top Guns" good enough to stay within the confines of the RA? Obviously not! Useless flogs! 👿

dragon man 26th Jan 2024 19:32

Not a problem soon as Albo will get rid of Australia Day.

AQIS Boigu 26th Jan 2024 19:58

The Balinese close their airport for an entire day due to public holiday.

But yes, why don’t they permit departures with an immediate turn to the west?!

DROPS 26th Jan 2024 22:07

Assuming 3NM radar standard from the edge of the TRA. that would pretty much take in the the airport boundary?

yep, plus add the mile required for tolerances of the map created… and the fact that departures off each runway need a specific altitude before turning, which on a 40 degree day isn’t going to be very close to the upwind end.

Unfortunately ‘she’ll be right mate’ isn’t a separation standard.

Ha, the infamous Botany Bay Boat Race.

I'm sure those up front have the skill to emulate the photo, as a pax had a sporting take off in a DC-9 at Hobart which was a copy when setting course to Launceston.

He got in a bit of trouble for that I read. Not sure how safe it was but it sure looked neat.
