Airwork/Texel/Toll

Seems like the shoe has dropped- Airwork has lost the Toll contract, being taken over by Texel.
You can only try and make relic 50 year old jets work for so long, They should have upgraded their fleet years ago.

PoppaJo 9th Nov 2023 22:58

They waited until the old rust buckets got grounded with cracks, then the light bulb moment came ‘oh perhaps let’s order some -800Fs’

Oh that’s right it’s a multi year wait for those at the moment. Fools.

But it meant that Toll had the choice of a provider who was not meeting service delivery requirements, but might if, at dsome stage, it upgraded it's fleet, and one that HAD the fleet and was ready to go.
Airwork could have gotten -800 stock frames for a song two years ago, and been up and running iwth them now. Thet chose to milk the last drop from the classics and now have so much scap.

Nauru Airlines just added a recently converted -800SF that they purchased from GA Telesis

Traffic_Is_Er_Was 10th Nov 2023 02:49

Have they lost the whole contract? Texel only have 2 airframes and only one of them just relocated to AUS. They've only taken over the runs that Air Nauru were doing.

DeltaT 10th Nov 2023 11:49

Texel have deep pockets from Bahrain, as well as more planes back there, whether they are spare or not is another question, but they can probably sort that out quick

Texel have OK-SBK at CAN pending conversion and I suspect the former VH-VOQ (VP-cJA) stored at ASP after conversion is earmarked for them.

Traffic_Is_Er_Was 10th Nov 2023 22:59

ASL (new Pionair owners) have a 738F earmarked for Aus as well.

According to Planespotters, Texel in Bahrain have 5 airframes, a 300, two 700's and two 800's. Unless they have no work there, I can't see them having the ability to take over much else of Airworks jobs at the moment. Airwork have 3 in BNE at any one time, let alone the other 13 scattered around.

Texel Australasia have three aircraft locally with plans to go to ten in the next three years,

logansi 11th Nov 2023 06:28

I'm told that they are taking over the Toll routes Nauru have been doing initially.

They only have 2 -800s locally. The -300 was sent back just after their first -800 arrived. Apparently a third -800 is due early 2024.

Are you 100% certain it's Texel? Information on who is taking over from Airwork is very secretive at this stage.

palauisland 12th Nov 2023 06:44

Texel looking to recruit direct entry captains for next year, so if your overseas and want a change in lifestyle with a Brisbane base then get your CV in asap assuming you have time on the 800.

Traffic_Is_Er_Was 12th Nov 2023 08:34

your overseas and want a change in lifestyle with a Brisbane base
A nine to five job. 2100-0500 that is.

..or you could have read it somewhere :)

I'd think ASL is more the danger for the NZ freight operators. They have the resources (121 737's worldwide across multiple companies) and deep pockets to go hard if they wanted to.

Sandbunny69 12th Nov 2023 08:55

Looks like it. Having a hard time getting staff in Auckland due to lower pay compared to others.

Wonder how they will convince people to join specially in Oz.

3 Holer 12th Nov 2023 23:34

Hey WIZ, bring back the 727F's with the new "green", hush kitted JT8s and fly them for another 50 years!! :)

framer 13th Nov 2023 03:01

I’d take a pay cut to fly a 727.

markis10 27th Nov 2023 05:58

Looks like Texel are adding another bird, VP-CJA just landed at BNE after spending time in ASP after conversion, former VH_VOQ

DeltaT 27th Nov 2023 08:05

From Texel website

By mid-2024 another three B737 NG Boeing Converted Freighters will enter our fleet – and there’s more growth to come after that!

Why hush kit them? Surely there is a mod to make them even louder? :}

palauisland 29th Nov 2023 00:27

For the direct entry commands going at Texel with a Brisbane base do we have know what money and or conditions are on offer?.

DeltaT 28th Dec 2023 23:08

2023-11-03 22:45:49 Airwork Holdings Limited (hereinafter referred to as "Airwork"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rifa Seiki, recently received a notice from its customer Team Global Express (hereinafter referred to as "TGE", formerly known as Toll Holdings Limited, hereinafter referred to as "TOLL") that the relevant aircraft lease contract will not be renewed after the expiration of May 31, 2024

Run! Don’t walk away is my advice.

Icarus2001 12th Apr 2024 02:37

I see Texel are advertising now for B737 type rated crew around Australia. Are management delusional? How many type rated guys are around who are not working or guys who want to change to freight?

If the ad on a certain job site is anything to go by, then a Senior FO starts on about $210k + super. Pretty sure there are plenty of 73 rated crew that might have those sorts of rates pique their interest?

Must be incorrect, that’s a Capt.

Only going by what was written in that ad, I have no inside knowledge of the operation and their pay structure. But if they are desperate for crew that are rated then maybe they are stepping up the pay, but again that's purely my own assumption.

On Guard 13th Apr 2024 04:39

No. I saw that ad, it’s not for Texel. It’s a new company. But yes it was 210 for F/O.

Icarus2001 13th Apr 2024 05:21

Almost...

This advert on seek is for Aviation Labour Group...

https://www.seek.com.au/job/75054984...e-1d3b78bb80ee

Only the first advert mentions $210k for a Senior FO

This advert is for Texel...

https://www.seek.com.au/job/75034729...252600637689b9

They read very similar. Some of the text is exactly the same. Draw your own conclusion. Only the ALG advert mentions salary.

Jimmy Neutron 25th Apr 2024 00:36

Unpaid Overtime

You need to ask how many hours of unpaid overtime is part of the $210K.
