At the end of the day, nobody really cares *why* you f**ked up.. only that (a) they now have a convenient scapegoat and (b) hopefully you've learned enough not to do it again (whatever it was that you did or didn't do).

What I'd find incredibly bloody funny would be if, once the aircraft finally stopped and passengers safely disembarking, the cockpit was empty and the pilots nowhere to be found!! :E

Reminds me of a bloke I used to live nextdoor to, a pom, who ran a bus company. He told me a joke once about cost-cutting in London Transport, which LT vehemently denied, via their PR unit, specifically the buses. In the middle of the day, there's a terrible bus crash at Piccadilly Circus, bodies everywhere, cars upside down, bus lurched to one side. The Metropolitan Police approach the driver to get a first-hand account of what happened and the driver says (in an Indian accent, apologies to those easily offended but it kind of doesn't work without it as at the time lots of Indian immigrants were driving buses) "I don't know, I vozz upstairs collecting fares".
