New Qantas routes: Seoul, Bangalore

Both QF and JQ will fly SYD-ICN from the end of 2022, and QF is also launching direct Sydney-Bangalore flights as of September 14.

Sydney to Seoul is not a new route for Qantas. It was flown by the 767’s during the 90’s (maybe early 2000’s?)
In fact, the Qantas 767’s went just about everywhere…but not Bangalore!

Great to hear there are new routes planned. Pretty amazing that an Australian cannot travel to Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam or Laos on our national flag carrier. Or that flights to a popular Australian destination like Thailand only depart from Sydney.

What about Costa Rica? There appears to be a Qantas tail on the DHL B757 video.

It is Alliance.

Will the BLR route be payload limited, seems to be rather close to the “brochure” range?

SYD - BLR is just over 5000nm, SYD - LAX is just under 6500nm. Shouldn’t be a problem. A couple of decent alternates within 300nm, VOHS and VOMM. 3000ft elevation at BLR in Summer could be more of an issue, but 4000m runways will help.

SYD - LAX is 7500 sm. 6500 nm.
