Network recruitment
 
Doesn’t qantas group policy require available positions to be advertised internally as well as externally?

I was told today that no internal advertisement was made to pilots within Network however this was discovered online…

Ok......

That website is a 3rd party bot which automatically crawls the web for pilot jobs and lists them (I think) or someone actually manually writes them. Either way quite handy…

It would have found the official job advert on the Qantas careers website - the job was posted yesterday.

Are you suggesting pilots within a Qantas group airline troll the qf website for opportunities 24/7? Or should comms be provided directly first?

Ultimately that mentality from an employer results in the implosion of their operation. It will only take a bit of hiring across the industry by a few bigger operators and they will be in real trouble.

Cmon! You aren’t going to get a steady stream of compliant, subservient and cheap visa holders by promoting and investment in existing staff!

Why do you think the requirements are so high? We’ve all seen this play out in many industries… advertise a job with extreme requirements, one or two desperate locals may happen to meet the requirements, just enough to make it look legit. But oh dear, we just can’t find enough people with the right qualifications to fill those positions (read; no one with that experience wants that crap job for that crap pay and we won’t pay to train locals), better run to the government for some ‘skilled worker visa holders’!

The add is for external typed A320 FOs.
Let me draw you a picture, and I hope it helps.
So.....
If you are a F-100 FO with NAA, then you will have a Command coming up on the F-100 real soon, and you don't need to go to the baby-bus as an FO.
If you're a F-100 Captain, then you wait for your A320 Command.
As far as I can see, there is no disadvantage to anyone in NAA

Look at what happened to a few regionals in America before Covid. They started handing back flying to mainline because they couldn't crew it. A few went broke due to lack of staff and the others all got rock solid, pilot friendly flow guarantees just to keep operating. These same airlines now are advertising again for foreigners.

I think the 1500 hour rule for F/Os in the USA had a lot to do with the regionals not being able to fulfil crewing requirements pre-covid. No such rule here, shake a tree and all the < 1500 hour guys would fall from it. Australia’s aviation industry is still a long way away from that.

That number is a vast exaggeration, by about 8-13 people (do that maths). The only NJS guys they've taken on were previously on the 190 the last time Cobham had them. Very well staffed, but had to re-introduce the Avro for a month because there weren't enough E190 drivers.

Most "real" airlines have seniority and a 2 year type freeze. From what I can gather a lot of crew have benefited from having neither of the above, can't have everything I guess. Before Network was purchased by Kwantarse, it was literally GA with jets, you can take the boy out of GA...............

It’s grossly unfair that ex Jandakot instructors with two years experience on F100s are being denied commands on the Airbus despite all the extra unpaid hours they put in doing office work.

I think the boeing and Airbus widebody crew you refer to are mostly recent additions. I don't think any widebody experienced pilots of long standing in Network are in the right seat of the Dutch oven
