QF staff travel

Evening all,

Just wondering if anyone has tried the above of late ? looking at a possible LHR return on a fairly low priority - are seats being impacted by the current cap on Intl arrivals etc etc ?
All advice appreciated, thanks in advance.

Not sure about Qantas, but a recently retired Cathay friend flew to London via Hong Kong from Brisbane just before Christmas without any on-load problems. Maybe an option to consider as a backup. They're coming back the same way as soon as Queensland relaxes the arrival quarantine requirements. (We're hoping to see them by next Christmas! :) )

Possibly other restrictions as well.

Travellers transiting through Singapore

Staff travellers transiting through Singapore, please note that transferring to a flight on a standby ticket is currently not permitted.
Travellers transferring to a flight on a confirmed ticket on an approved carrier (i.e a carrier operating a transfer desk), must hold a confirmed onward ticket to the final destination.
Travellers holding a confirmed onward ticket must not clear immigration but proceed to the transfer desk to check in for the onward confirmed flight (and have their checked baggage transferred to their onward confirmed flight).
If a traveller clears immigration in Singapore, they must quarantine in a local hotel until a negative post arrival Covid test is received. The test result can take up to 2 days.
On receipt of a negative test result, staff travellers can then return to the Airport to travel beyond Singapore.

I used Qantas Staff Travel on QF1 to London 17 November and back on QF2 on 25 November. All went smoothly except for the upgrade process out of Darwin in both directions. Upgraded to business ex Sydney but left in economy ex Darwin on QF1, got on board to discover there were 3 seats free in premium economy. Spoke to the CSM and ground staff and they put me in a premium economy seat. On QF2 ex London upgraded from premium economy to business at the gate. Ex Darwin same thing happened where I remained in premium economy but the seat to had from London in business was still free. The system wouldn't allow the ground staff to upgrade me into that seat. The ground staff spoke to the CSM and they allowed me to remain in the seat I had from London.
There was no problem with onload onto all flights as there were a lot of economy seats available.

Just a word of caution, Darwin can be payload limited this time of year with fog in Europe and storms in Darwin. Just because there are seats doesn’t guarantee you will get on.
