CASA SAFETY SURVEY

So I filled in my personal details thinking I was going to be able to partake in the survey, then received that message. I guess my opinion doesn't matter?

CAsA is a regulator, not an authority on safe civil aviation.
They are not interested for anything else but compliance, real safety management would be too difficult for them and beyong the comprehension of a legalistic mindset.

Australia is required by its own law and by international agreement to have a 'national aviation regulator', unfortunately we got CAsA instead.

The survey sucked. Asked questions about more seminars, nothing about safety.

Let's have a real chat about mental health for once. Surely there are hundreds of aussie pilots out there with issues they don't bother addressing because it will affect their livelihood. Especially after the year we've had. CASA medical guidelines are so restrictive, it encourages us to lie on our medicals and not seek help. There's so much coming out about ADHD being so prevalent within adults and being left undiagnosed. Look at the ramifications for someone seeking help to better themselves and finding out they had ADHD. 6 months MINIMUM on the bench.

I'm having this rant because I'm seeing too many souls walking around the crew room who clearly need a helping hand getting out of their hole, but the risk is too much for them.

Oddly worded question, is it the pilots that should be described, or CASA?

Unfortunately, even the education system is filled with such bullshit questions. You can’t answer with rigor when the “actual question” has not been asked. It is like asking someone to tell you what method they would use to achieve something. Adding that there is no need to elaborate on why you chose the method. Only to turn around and say that the answer is incorrect because it does not explain why you chose the method. It is frightening. Academia interfering in the practical world.

Stop whining. Take the survey at face value and give honest answers. Yes probably most of us will tick the Bureaucratic, Regulation focussed and ill-equipped boxes but the other questions are still worth genuine replies. Probably ignored but nothing to lose.

Nice sentiment there.....but.....WHO is going to take ANY notice of the responses..??

No Cheers here...nope! None at all!!

Felt like a waste of time.

So how much will these CASA Seminar / junkets cost floating around cities and regional areas lecturing safety?

Guessing the industry will be covering the cost.

CASA management has been the subject of a massive amount of criticism from industry, the Unions, and a Senate inquiry. These questionnaires are designed by Crawford, Aleck, Walker et all to deflect that criticism, hence the subjective and unclear questioning technique, so the answers can be manipulated as required. In this case the best response is silence , other than passing that auto generated response on to your local federal MP

Interesting isn't it? Money funded to 3rd parties with 'dubious' privacy rights for meaningless Questionnaires !

A Mis-Managements 'WET DREAM'?
