What's taking them so long to get this bubble going? Surely both NZ and AUS can benefit from this; there's a vaccine right around the corner and neither country have had community transmissions for some time.

I heard a rumour that January is penciled in for Jacinda to relax quarantine requirements.

Something to do with NSW's finest letting international arrivals wander about the country unabated. Seems it would be easy to arrive in Oz and then transfer to a NZ flight without going through any checks. Besides, NZ has their hands full, what with their direct flights of returning 'Kiwis' bringing brides and families from 'Central Asia'. That is the majority of infections 'across the ditch' :=

I never knew there were so many "kiwis" in that part of the world. I'm not sure the average man on the street really appreciates what's going on.

Aus and NZ will the last to add anything to airports like rapid testing etc. Airports around the world have been preparing to operate safely for staff and passengers but the Tasman airports will just wait and do nothing different to what they were doing before Covid.

Remember Australian airports where just handing out a flyer to arrivals in March which basically did nothing, and they were getting people to queue with no social distancing. Even now there are queues at domestic security because they don't want to pay more staff.

Border Force or whoever is responsible for this type of thing will just sit on their hands while the rest of the world is open. Even the cruise lines have implemented plans and rapid testing before boarding and during the cruise- they are ready to operate safely but ScoMo doesn't want the risk of another Ruby Princess

The biggest obstacle is probably the lack of a federal quarantine plan in Australia. NZ don't want to negotiate quarantine with every state. Also some states in Australia have had community transmission relatively recently. Opening up internal Australian borders while there are still recent cases makes a NZ bubble less likely.

There are many businesses open now in Australia and NZ that would have to close down again if COVID started spreading again. No-one wants to risk that.

With VA having less aircraft, surely many thin routes will go or be reduced dramatically.

Fear regions will lose some flights, like to CNS, TSV + internationally BNE/DUD, NTL/AKL
