Coffs Twr cutbacks

No Twr on weekends compliments of ASA.

Bodie1 29th Jun 2020 07:21

How many movements on the weekends?

Mr Approach 29th Jun 2020 07:50

Don't forget the change also requires approval from CASA - the safety people!

Are there still parachute operations there? Could be very frustrating with A045 CTA base and no tower controller with binoculars working tower magic

Ex FSO GRIFFO 30th Jun 2020 01:15

Hey, you in the parachute.....I said 'MAINTAIN 4,000'......

Once the pilot declares “Jumpers Away” the airspace is “occupied” for 8 minutes or until the pilot confirms the aircraft and chutes are below 4,500’. A tower controller could visually separate a departure off RWY21 tracking south, the surveillance controllers can’t.

Meanwhile in Cairns...no staff...tower closed! Again..

roundsounds 7th Jul 2020 11:23

I wish they’d shut at Camden TWR midweek. Can not justify the ATS or associated cost.

Lead Balloon 7th Jul 2020 11:30

Come now: Tower hours and manning are determined on the basis of objective risk and the cost of mitigating those risks. It has nothing to do with Airservices’ internal HR and personnel management problems. Absolutely nothing.

Bankstown have been closing early recently, and it appears Sydney Tower will be unmanned at some point during tonights curfew.

Tamworth as well.

Bankstown also running without the third controller to control the circuit traffic - 132.8 is getting pretty crazy with a few inbound and a handful in the circuit.
