AUS Aviation Crisis - Will Overregulation Be Scaled Back?
 

In line with the nails being driven into our industry, will the overregulation that has also contributed to our industries problems be scaled back finally?

CASA have already said they will delay the implementation and change to some regulations and apparently AMS are considering the scaling back of some of the ludicrous security screening regulations temporarily (kind of makes you wonder then why some of these regulations even exist then).

Scaled back? Just when CASA is finally getting what it has always wanted; empty skies!

"Hey guys, we've got the safest skies in the world. No planes flying means no crashes which means we are the greatest Aviation Safety organisation in the world! Bonuses all round!"
Only trouble is, no planes, no CASA!

Case in point.

The sensible and welcome decision by CASA to extend medical certificates by six months. They must have done a risk analysis, therefore logically they should be extended to 18 months permanently. No reason to go back to 12 month validity. If it is "safe enough" now, then it must be "safe enough".

I don't think CAsA were doing that off their own back, rather, if they didn't follow the lead of the likes of the FAA and UK CAA questions would probably be asked....

Though I certainly agree with "Well if the 6 month extension was safe when the pestilence was here, why is it not safe when the bug is not here?!?" logic!

Can anyone explain how and why Qatar are operating? No overregulation their. They have got planes going
everywhere if you look at Radar24. What virus? While sort of on topic when I did last look
at the radar their was 4 aircraft holding north of MEL. Could not believe it.

CASA complete a risk analysis, you’ve got to be joking. They do not conduct a risk analysis for any of their decisions, nor follow any rigid change process - that’s only for the industry to perform.

1st Aptil was yesterday, today it's real, CASA will continue on making the industry difficult to operate in even in the new world when the sun hopefully rises again over what's left of Australian aviation! When it's all done & dusted it will go on in some form but it won't go one for all of us!

The problem is that existing schools and MRO’s will go out of business and new entrants can’t afford the cost of new CASA approvals. QSo the industry dies.

A pilot is deemed unsafe and uncompliant to operate an aircraft after the validity of the proficiency check expires. However due to the China Virus he/she is suddenly safe to do so for an extra three to nine months?
