Pilot behaviour-Fact or Fiction??

"A pilot who refused to self-isolate was tracked down by staff from an Auckland waterfront restaurant to a nearby bar.

The pilot flew into New Zealand on Saturday and refused to co-operate with HeadQuarters staff when trying to enter, before fleeing the establishment.

Staff were sent out to track down him down - he was found 20 minutes later in a Princes Wharf restaurant.

The pilot and his crew arrived in the country from a global coronavirus hotspot but were not interested in following self-isolation rules.
"When [name amended] was cornered by a 135kg Tongan he suddenly became very co-operative and told us the full story", "The man told the restaurant he and his crew did not care to follow the rules and they were leaving Auckland on Tuesday, "so who cares".

It's from the Facebook page of the HeadQuarters Viaduct in AKL. Picture of the guy is on the Facebook posting.

Meet Sandy B*****
Sandy is flash
He stays at the Grand Millenium when he’s in town
Sandy travels the world, all the world, faster than a corona virus, because Sandy is an airline pilot .. with Emirates
Sandy arrived in NZ yesterday .. and today he came to HQ .. when questioned he refused to cooperate and beat a very rapid retreat ... so we sent men out.. and twenty minutes later we found Sandy in a Princes Wharf Restaurant
When Sandy was cornered by a 135 kg Tongan he suddenly became very cooperative and told us the full story, after he showed us his ID, ... that he and his crew just did this, they didn’t care, they came to town from global hot spots and they just went out ... cruising ... WTF he said, we’re only in town until Tuesday so who cares
That’s how useless your government and our Police are, they too couldn’t give a f**** while these reckless clowns do their best to wreck our country
Thanks Sandy ... and if you’re wondering we’ve advised the appropriate authorities including the Police so you might be getting a visit tonight ( I hope )
If you know anyone at Emirates, or in this useless government, maybe even the Police, can you get them involved so we have a chance of saving this country

Restaurant staff hunt down pilot refusing to self-isolate

AuthorLuke Kirkness, NZ Herald,Publish DateMon, 23 Mar 2020, 9:10AMhttps://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/media/2...=80&scale=bothThe pilot attempted to go to Headquarters bar in Auckland's Viaduct. (Photo / NZ Herald)A pilot who refused to self-isolate was tracked down by staff from an Auckland waterfront restaurant to a nearby bar.

The pilot and his crew allegedly arrived in the country from a global coronavirus hotspot but were not interested in following self-isolation rules.

The pilot flew into New Zealand on Saturday and refused to co-operate with HeadQuarters staff when trying to enter, before fleeing the establishment.

Staff from HeadQuarters, owned by Leo Molloy, were sent out to track down him down - he was found 20 minutes later in a Princes Wharf restaurant.

"When [name amended] was cornered by a 135kg Tongan he suddenly became very co-operative and told us the full story", Molloy said on social media.

The man told the restaurant he and his crew did not care to follow the rules and they were leaving Auckland on Tuesday, "so who cares".

The proper authorities, including police, had been contacted by HQ about the incident, the social media post also said.

Reading the above, I'm wondering why, if they want to keep their country safe, are the locals out and about and why are restaurants and bars open?

They aren't now! (Or from Wednesday)

Do you not understand what a photograph is? Did you not wonder why the people in the photo are not moving?

I am sure glad they quoted the weight of the Tongan... very important to the story.

Capn Rex Havoc 25th Mar 2020 05:59

I know the guy involved - a good bloke (for a kiwi). There were no restaurant/bar closures at the time he was there. Additionally, the crew were exempt from the 14 day quarantine rule. You can argue how was it that CASA and the NZ authorities imposed a 14 day quarantine on pax, but exempted crew? You can argue, that he should have stayed in, but I can't say I blame him for wanting to have a meal and a drink in his home town. All of us are now locked down in Dubai, and even if we had leave, there are no flights anymore.

Sunfish 25th Mar 2020 11:32

How were they exempt from quarantine? Does that mean they are certified disease free? Does that mean they can spread it as they like?

I would have thought that Dubai, being a crossroads, is a hotbed of Coronavirus. Therefore all Dubai residents or transients should be assumed infected.

hopefully he hasn’t given it to some poor old person.

maggot 25th Mar 2020 22:44

Exempt but ya meant to stay in your room

Traffic_Is_Er_Was 26th Mar 2020 05:10

Then you're not really exempt.

SUNFISH -

That is what your government came up with -

From the CASA / Department of home affairs website - https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/news-...el-coronavirus
  • Airline crew (including medivac crew) are exempt from the travel restrictions. Airline crew are advised to take particular care on lay-overs, to use dedicated private transport and to avoid crowded public spaces.

Sunfish 26th Mar 2020 06:54

Yes Captain Rex, but that assumes a certain level of responsibility on the part of the exempted crews. If that responsibility isn’t evident, then the exemption should be removed.

... so we sent men out..
When Sandy was cornered by a 135 kg Tongan he suddenly became very cooperative and told us the full story, after he showed us his ID
Phew, lucky the restaurant vigilantes were there to hunt him down and demand to see his ID. What were they going to do if he refused further? Beat him up?

Unfortunately traffic, yes, they will beat him up or worse, judging by the fights over mere toilet paper.
