Indeed Dragon. Give that man a job in QF.

Ok ....

“When I read an article like yours knowing what I’ve endured over the last 10 years at Jetstar -“

What has been endured? Working under 2 x 5 year EA that were voted up? (The current after a big no vote and improvement)

“The Dreamliner (787) is 4 per cent quicker than the Airbus it replaced, it’s a very fast aircraft,” the captain said.

“We got a 3 per cent pay rise on an aircraft that flies 4 per cent quicker and we get paid by the flight hour, so it was actually a pay cut.”

Hang on, sure the 787 is faster than the 320. But the pilots are still rosterd to 75 hrs per month, or whatever the divisor might be. So you just fly further in the 75 hrs (+overtime) that you’re paid for, under the EA that was voted up? (With wide body terms included)

I’m no fan of Joyce but faaaark, if your going to argue it’s got to stack up.

(Crew food doesn’t look too bad? Pax food, not so nice)

Wow.

"I don't need the performance bonuses"... yeh, well, as a government employee on $903,000 per annum, I would be happy to not have bonuses either.

I was bemused by the Jetstar statement about the meals being designed to suit the "tastes" of the crew. Really, did they ask everyone what their 'tastes' are???

I believe the mystery man/woman is referring to the a330 not the a320.

And if he/she was in overtime (which is alot of the time at JQ), and you were called in off a standby for a trip then yes you would receive 4% less in credit hours than you would have previously on the a330.

Keep in mind there is something like 11 x 787’s versus 56 x a320/1’s under a single EBA. Which group of pilots do you think the company have to please more to get an EBA voted up?

Green.Dot 30th Oct 2019 20:41

There will now be compulsory hand inspections at sign on to identify the pilot in question

Iron Bar 30th Oct 2019 21:05

330, quite right and fair enough, perhaps makes more sense in the context of overtime. Still a bit misleading regards the rest of the 75 hrs.

Wow.

I think you will find many agree with him and it’s anonymous because otherwise he would be sacked.

good on this person for making a stand.

Long overdue for the pilot representative groups in Aus (and worldwide) to start working together to get some decent PR working for it. The airlines are just making a mockery of any claims and they have a far better PR machine. The pilot group needs to get Joe Public on THEIR side, THAT will be the only way to win this fight. As it stands, they are seen as a bunch of overpaid, entitled whingers. A very good PR firm is required to change this perception.

BTW, $900,000 per annum , compared to the average Joe's salary is also excessive, rather hypocritical.

Each pilot can take a stand.
Whilst the apparatus aligned against the employee and indeed the collective is formidable, operating revenue only comes from one thing: aircraft flying.

PR doesn't matter as much as collective willpower, for all the administration required to "administer" an airline needs operating revenue.
Impact their Operating Revenue and they listen.

Or their operating costs via sick leave, additional fuel uplift , flying fast or better still all three.

And you call yourself a professional pilot, demand respect, and demand to be remunerated accordingly.
You’re nothing but an industrial thug in a white shirt.

The greatest industrial thugs in this country are the Business Council of Australia. You know, the business union?

Jamie, what conditions should pilots enjoy in your opinion? You call us thugs in white shirts for trying to halt the disintegration of conditions, how about you throw down some specifics, what’s your price?

SandyPalms 1st Nov 2019 00:05

You're making it worse Jamie. I understand that the you p#$%s want the staff to roll over and accept whatever it is you want to offer, but we aren't going to do that. Your KPI's mean f$%k all to us. Getting on a public forum and berating those people is not going to help. Stop being such an idiot.
