What aircraft are the pollies using?

Not purely out of interest-I want to set my students a challenge- but what aircraft are the pollies using this election?
does Hanson still have the Jabiru? Can Clive still access a Global Express? Some of you will probably be flying them so what are they using?
of course, another thing would be to speculate what they SHOULD be using:
Hanson- stick with the Jab, you know it makes sense.
Palmer- you have two MD80’s mouldering away at BNE, why not use them?
ScoMo- mate, think of the country and fly the flag- in the back of a jetstar a320?
Shorten- power to the people. There must be a Nomad available somewhere
and DiNatali- come on! Flying? Climate change? Environmental damage caused by flying, curfew for Badgeries Creek?
stick to the road mate.

your ideas and comments welcome

Alliance F100 are taking the media alongside the 737 BBJ

Clive has a Cayman registered B4000 VP-CPP

I know of a number flying in Barons. Barnaby gets around in a Navajo from Goondiwindi despite having 6 charter operators in his electorate :hmm:

Duck Pilot 2nd May 2019 10:45

Great to see Barnaby is supporting GA, who is using what in North Queensland?

Palmer using his foreign registered jets, how Australian is that?

When a federal election is called, I believe the leader of the opposition gets equal time as the sitting PM in the use of Government aircraft.
From 'Flight Aware' we can assume:
Both the RAAF B737 BBJ's are doing the Morrison and Shorten schedule
The Challenger 604's are earning their keep
Opposition members are chartering a Challenger (VH-SCR) from Essendon operator
The first of three new Dassault Falcon 7X (A56-001) has been very busy.
Clive Palmer had his Global Express apparently re-possessed two years ago, and replaced by a Hawker 4000 (Cayman registered) and he still has his Citation X (Cayman registered) also based at Gold Coast. The two Minerology MD-80's are beyond redemption at BNE airport.
Members and would be minor functionaries and assorted underlings are chartering light GA twins in the electoral endeavours, shock horror 40 and 50 year old Navajo and Baron.
Alliance has been doing steady trade in the Fokker 100
I would imagine that Military choppers have been pressed into service for hard to reach area's
RAAF King Air 350's are also doing election duties

I wonder if the cost of election use of Govt. aircraft is tabled in Parliament once the game is over?

HL,

" gets around in a Navajo from Goondiwindi "

I thought it operated under a AOC in central NSW, Dubbo maybe. Is that your electorate

Horatio Leafblower 3rd May 2019 21:44

Holdingagain,

No Dubbo is in the seat of Parkes, held by Mark Coulton (NAT).

New England includes Scone, Gunnedah, Tamworth, Armidale and Inverell airports.
FW Charter operators headquartered in New England include Airspeed Avn, Pays, Kennedy Avn, Inverell Avn, Edwards Aviation and Fleet Helicopters (whatever Lachie's FW arm is called).

Use of the the "JetBidders" system is supposedly mandatory for all parliamentary travel and Barnaby's office tells me they are obliged to pick the cheapest option.

My understanding is that everything is available via FOI after the election.

Certainly not for the RAAF flights - 34 Sqn movements are embargoed for six months until the Defence Minister, whoever that may be in the future, approves their release and then they're made available through the Parliament website.

I wonder who the Katter clan will use for air charters this Election? :}

I remember fondly :yuk: booting around the Gulf a few years ago with him and a channel 9 news crew in tow. Total lost cause that bloke.

Clive's pilots are certainly clocking up the miles-some very long daysin the saddle.

Hope they're getting paid on time, and not through Clive Mensink...

Horacio, checked that Jetbidders web site, looks like a race to the bottom bidding for work and getting a second chance to reduce your price to win the flight. One wonders about the % mark up to support the overheads of the broker. Do they use internal auditors or accept BARS accreditation.
