QF Perth - Johannesburg on a quad

The whispers about QF (re)commencing PER-JNB-PER appear to gaining some traction, with a schedule released for the JNB-PER sector commencing in mid December 18 for a 4 x weekly service.

Equipment is shown as being operated by A332's.

Interesting about the A332's as the ones SAA recently flew to Perth in-lieu of their A343's are rumoured to of taken a reasonable payload hit ex JNB.

Either way, it's good to see QF's continued investment in Perth.

And here I was thinking I’d see 747s in Perth again!

Keg 9th Apr 2018 10:21

I’ve heard it’ll be crewed out of the east coast A330 bases! :ok: :E :}

And I’ve heard that the PER crew will then be doing the HNL’s. :)

What is the EDTO time on those twin rats?

maggot 9th Apr 2018 20:52

There's a project...

Australopithecus 9th Apr 2018 21:37

The rumours I hear are that 240 min is available with an (expensive, of course) update to the FMGCS. Allegedly the budget for that has been approved by the capital outlay optimisation committee.

More game changing

blow.n.gasket 9th Apr 2018 22:13

Will be interesting to see what the 330 can uplift out of JNB when the southerly blows and the uphill duty runway 21R is in use !
Good luck !

Included TCRF and a J dunny
Will need a thrust bump outta Jo'burg perhaps...

Australopithecus 9th Apr 2018 22:58

What? You mean the crew rest and toilet that we recently paid big money to remove? Say it ain’t so.

Thrust bump...haven’t heard. I know there is a 9 tonne MTOW bump available which would have to include higher thrust given what an underpowered pig it is now.

The Green Goblin 10th Apr 2018 01:58

Wouldn’t this be ideal for one of those 787-9 options that were just passed up?

4 times a week to SA and the other 3 days a week to japan would be a good start.

Anyway at least there’s some new (old) routes being whispered about, which is a great thing for all.

Tom/PER 10th Apr 2018 02:39

Keg/maggot and Co,

Do -EBG/L still have still the beefed up donkeys from their LAX-AKL days?

Or have they been ‘QF’d’ and standardised in-line with the rest of the A332 fleet?

maggot 10th Apr 2018 03:33

Standard AFAIK

Chris2303 10th Apr 2018 06:18

Seems that the idea may have been prematurely released.

Would love to see a PER-CPT route instead.

Still trying to figure out what sort of quad an A332 is?:hmm:

krismiler 10th Apr 2018 12:17

JNB is 6000' amsl and rather warm in summer so commercial need to talk to flight ops first.

With the number of South African immigrants in Perth alone it should be a goer.

Try wearing the CEO's Ministry of Truth issued glasses, available at The Street (Chestnut Tree Café) and I'm sure you'll understand. One hand (airframe - or accounting/billing entity!) can have as many digits (or as few) as The Party might dictate. Quad/Twin/Single - QF/JQ/JC/Network etc.

6079 Smith W can attest to this.

Goer, or Boer? I actually thought the ANC might be the proponent of the 330 - Maybe, there wont be many left able to leave? Either way the policy being adopted by SA has worked SO well for Zim - I find this hard to believe, but possibly QF are preparing for the future by reducing loads on this sector?
