QANTAS, PER to 'Gay Paree' Non-Stop Next?
The 'Flying Kanga' to do PER to 'Gay Paree' Non-Stop in September this year...???
Rumour...?? If it can do PER to LON, then 'Paree' is just a walk in the park...? Passenger numbers I wonder..?? Especially on the return trip..... Cheers :ok: |
Ummm...er... Griffo me old...I reckon the term 'Gay' Paree is now somewhat obsolescent, wouldn't you agree?

According to new QantasSpeak you cannot use 'gay' because it may offend a gay person, so this route will be from Perth to 'same-sex preference' Paris. "Not that there's anything wrong with that..."

un fantastique Rumour.
Un petite problem ! With what , mon dieu , no extra aircraft ! The first 8 already accounted for. |
The first 8 already accounted for. |
They could hub these out of ,say Singapore, and feed in from the rest of Australia which is currently ignored!

Rumour from training is 6 more 787s and yes, Perth to Paris next.

Qantas originally had 8 787 delivery options slated for 19/20. They’ve so far relinquished one in a move timed to create a perception of angst in the pilot body and send a shot across the bows re Jetconnect, Network and SH EA but in reality is a bit of a nothing move as I’m not sure we had the capacity to train for that aeroplane anyway.
So there are still 7 options for 19/20 and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if we also gave up option number two for that year so as to continue with the preferred ‘narrative of the day’ (fiscal responsibility, nasty pilots, whatever it has to be). Were that second option not taken up it may finally allow us to get on the front foot with training and be able to train for the remaining 6 without decimating the pilot numbers on the A330 and 737 and cancelling services. So that pretty much ties in with Dragon man’s rumour about 6 in 19/20. |
One rumour getting around is that this six 787s, if ordered will “replace” the last of the 747s.
How six little 787s replace nine large 747s I cannot see! (Assuming OEB already gone) Especially as every time the 787 is mentioned there is a plan for some new route with little mention of current routes. Shrink to profits? ;) |

He has proved inept amongst his peers so he is only interested in a pond he can dominate easily. Domestic - where he has a monopoly and cannot fail. He suffers from a Napoleonic Complex but on a very small scale. Not for him vast tracks emanating out of Qantas HQ around the globe, but little lines from Perth to Kunnanura and Darwin and Katherine and maybe Learmonth! How about Dubbo or Bathurst/Kangaroo Is or even Tamworth! Using QF market share/ff points Chairpersxx Lounge and share price, he can totally dominate the smaller/semi GA operators. That way, he’s the tallest hog in the trough! And CERTAINLY the most wealthy! Could I love Him more??? |
Bas presently residing in Freshie so looking at things Aussie.
#2: when I was a wee lad, we had a pleasure craft on the Clyde named the 'Gay Queen'. Trust me, in the Merchant Navy and airlines, I met a few :E Right! That's me banned from Australia, enZed and the Pacific ;) |
Well if it's gay, QF will go there for sure.

Essential reading for Qantas Pilots when dealing with senior management ?

Perhaps it's just the Perth - London flight, with a planned refuelling stop in Paris.

that would be funny, still non stop to europe is what they will claim

Being indifferent is VERY powerful
The indifference to whether they order aeroplanes or not and the looming shortage has them concerned. Their model is predicated on connected engaged response. They spend enormous resources crafting narrative and also the way it is communicated. Ask any HR strategist. It is dark stuff at times. In other words, when considering a strategy for example involving something symbolic (think like uniform) they will factor in EXPECTED pilot response to gauge sentiment; is there commentary on social media for example or other indicators of sentimental response by a stakeholder group. It is often during such events that other changes are slipped through. They have no idea how to generate a response when the pilot body is indifferent and apparently silent. |
