Where is Barnaby?

Barnaby Joyce was re-elected to Parliament on 2 December and appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Transport on 20 December 2017.

He seems to have gone to ground, dropped out of sight? Not even a press release or comment to the media for the past month. Most un-like Barnaby who normally takes every opportunity to publicly express an opinion…… :E

One would have thought one of his first priorities would be a brief indication of his policy direction for Australian transport, including Australian aviation?

Or does Barnaby intend to uphold the fine tradition of Australian Ministers for Transport and totally ignore aviation, whilst the industry continues to decline alarmingly, Aussie flying training dies, CASA runs amok and the 29 year “job to retirement” regulatory re-write continues in perpetuity?

He’ll be working on policies for both modes of transport: Road and rail.

His policy on aviation will be written by you-know-who.

Who? Warren Truss? John Anderson?

How would you be if you found out that you could be a Kiwi? You would probably want some time off to recover.

Barnaby’s probably busy dealing with family issues what with his upcoming divorce and, reportedly, a new baby on the way...

One of the few redeeming features about Australian politics is that in most cases, unlike the US and European political spheres, private lives and after hours activities do not carry much weight.
Let's keep it that way.

Barnaby felt very entitled to weigh into everyone else's personal lives, citing his devout Catholic faith and his belief in the "sanctity of Marriage". It is also alleged that he was not just having an affair, but having affairs with two of his staff.

I might be old fashioned, but that's really really not on.

DirectAnywhere 11th Jan 2018 06:49

👆👆👆 What he said. I guess this thread will be locked shortly as it has little relevance to aviation but Barnaby is self-righteous and sanctimonious and got busted by the missus with his hand in the cookie jar.

His moral code is polically relevant when he stands on said morals and when his failure to uphold them results in damage to others and interferes with his ability to uphold his statutory duties.

He has been distracted by these matters for a while and, in the opinion of this humble voter, it is impinging upon his ability to fulfil the requirements of his ministerial appointments, including those related to aviation.

My missus would disown me if I was found to be a closet kiwi :p
