Looks like a view out the window of an A380 about to land in Dubai perhaps... what do you mean "explain"... explain what??? It's a photograph, desert, aircraft wing, aircraft window.

Are you wondering about the deployed spoilers?

I know nothing about the picture as such though i reckons Qantas needs to get themselves a better ad firm. Sneaking into pprune with it - the hide of em..

'We're dreaming of our next holiday. Where are you off to next?'

Not sure but it would want to look better than the dust bowl in that photo!!

Wouldn't you want a photo with a more enticing/inviting destination..? That ad makes me want to stay home..!

flitegirl 5th Jul 2017 04:53

It's just a social media post and the picture would have been taken by a passenger. It's not an official media ad. Qantas puts these sorts of posts on social media most days.

Got himself high on the DME Arrival into Ayers Rock. Typical Sydney Wally (Quokka??)!

Qantas doesn't have A320s (yet?) so it must be JQ

Yes Buster.
How often would spoilers be fully deployed like that?

Tangosierra 6th Jul 2017 06:11

OttoL
Although the A380 is a bloody big jet, it , like other Airbus types, doesn't like to "Go Down" and "Slow Down" at the same time! So instructions from ATC like "Descend to 4000, reduce speed to 210kts" when you are maintaining 7000ft and 250kts will normally require speed brakes(spoilers) to achieve the aim in any reasonable amount of time. That's what you can see in the photo : looks like descending into Dubai from the South

Hard to say if thats full too fwiw
380 boards are /very/ effective at full...
Just watch that Vaprot :}

I didn't know the answer 0ttol, but looks like it's answered for you. Maybe spell out exactly what you're after to keep the drift to a minimum.

Some might bite, but most will just answer.:ok::ok:

Well if it is dubai your profile isnt really yours

Yep. In my experience of Dubes, the only time you'd need speed brake is when they want you even lower and slower than the standard 250kt/FL130 with 110nm to run around the trombone!
