"Candidates may not lodge nominations until after the writ for the election has been issued. The date fixed for the close of nominations must be at least 10 days, but not more than 27 days after the issue of the writ.
Nominations must be made before 12 noon on the day nominations close. Nominations will be declared 24 hours after close of nominations."

So nominations close on 9th of June?

The very most one could do to insult an Australian of any caliber, of any religion, of any ethnicity, of any political persuasion, of any particular wealth or impecunity, of any indigenous decorative award or ability to eat a meat pie or help a mate out when needed. Someone of great philanthropic empathy and would stop to piss on you, mate , if you were on fire. (which I wouldn't do).

Thank you Frank. I wish I had the ability to make a post as eloquently as yours. I have much respect for Dick Smith AC, as he always seems to be trying to improve the GA situation in this country whereas other just seem to want to pull him down to their level of mediocrity (or lower).

So when are we going to see Dicks Dairy?

Sell infant formulae at top dollar to the Chinese and use the proceeds to give the farmers a decent dollar for their milk and be competitive with the majors.

Right now there is a global glut of milk starting with high production in Europe. They are infiltrating so-called traditional Australian markets at very low subsidised prices. This os course affects our milk exports greatly which is which flows onto the domestic market.

People of Australia, wake up to globalisation....

I thought the milk wars were started on our own doorstep by the big food retailers 4 or 5 years ago. The global glut would only be compounding things.

Not really.
The dairy industry in the USA is heavily subsidized. So the consumer pays a portion of their milk purchase at the supermarket counter, and a portion with their tax return.

Farm subsidies are alive and well in many countries including the USA, France etc etc
