ATSB finally gets rid of The Beaker

Excellent news. Greg is the right man for the job IMHO.

OK, are we seeing a new broom (courtesy of the present PM incumbent or whomever in govt ranks) through the aviation agencies or is it due to a weariness of being the kicking boy for the aviation community? Serious question folk so if anyone has a considered opinion I would welcome it.

Excellent choice>>>man of integrity at last.:D

Great guy.
Seems a long time since sharing beers in the Simpsons Gap bar. |
The experiment with a bureaucrat with no aviation experience or interest running the place has been an epic fail. I think Kym Bills lulled them into a false sense of security. At least he was interested in the work of the Bureau and not interested in self-promotion.

Did anyone see an advertisement for the Chief Commissioner position?
For that matter, did anyone see an advertisement for the position Mr Hood occupied in Airservices? Or, for that matter, did anyone see an advertisement for the position Mr Hood occupied in CASA before he moved to Airservices? Now that I think of it, did anyone see an advertisement for the CEO Airservices position vacated by Ms Staib and now occupied by Mr Harfield? I assume there was, in each case, an "international search" and "competitive, merit-based selection process" run by an "expert recruitment agency", but I must have been focussed on something else. |
A small caution on the Obama/Messiah complex. There's no disputing he's a likeable guy, but that doesn't automatically correlate with the best decisions. A steady stream of genuinely sharp, knowledgable operators have steadily jumped or been pushed out of positions of influence in ATC to make way for a bunch of true clowns and self-serving poseurs. Confusion and moronic decision-making (FRMS anybody?) reigns. Some irreparable damage has to be owned.

To be fair nobody has been doing anything as they are constantly on overseas trips. There is more 'acting' going on than in Hollywood.
|
C'mon, Hilton. The CATC's 82 trips to Montreal over the last two years have been directly responsible for the huge raft of positive initiatives we've all benefitted from. Oh, wait...

A small caution on the Obama/Messiah complex. There's no disputing he's a likeable guy, but that doesn't automatically correlate. I found it fascinating to watch Greg Combet in the previous government, being feted as some kind of 'troubleshooter-in-chief' to be used as a last resort to fix chronic messes. So far as I could tell, all he did was make durr-obvious decisions to put a bullet to busted-arse projects. Nice, smart guy by all accounts, but not the Messiah. For some reason, Mr Hood reminds me of him.... |
