Rex back into Cooma

REX Airlines to fly to Snowy Mountains in 2016 ski season - Snows Best

They should be flying out of Bankstown!! Everyone knows that nobody likes to fly out of BUAs!!

dijical 25th Nov 2015 01:22

because it's not a regulated route

One factor REX is reported to have favoured in re-entering the Cooma route is that it is not regulated. Why is that an advantage?

Horatio Leafblower 25th Nov 2015 04:28

I would suggest that regulated routes are a major pain in the arse or rather, having to interact with yet another layer of government bull**** is a major PITA.

It's bad enough having to deal with local councils at every point on your route who uniformly view a commercial air route as a key requirement to the economic development of their region, yet are determined to tax everyone to buggery from day one of the service.

Mudgee Council a notable exception, they got their route deregulated and gave FlyDuck a huge boost to get going. :ok:

Reading between the lines, it sounds like Rex may have got a bit of "encouragement" from the airport owner as well.

Given this new route on top of the new WA routes and the extra Qld routes, do they have enough aircraft? Or are they looking to buy more?

TT738 25th Nov 2015 18:16

didn't Sydney to Cooma used to be regulated ?

Bring back the old death pencils?

They maybe considering relocating one or possibly two of the aircraft parked up in BNE due resource companies downturn.

The passenger SF34s in Brisbane are used on the Western RPT runs.

But yes, the resources slowdown has resulted in a lot less movements in BNE

Saab's don't require security screening. What are you on about ?
