2015 Aviation Survey / 2014 results
Hi all,
Most would be aware that my union the Australian Licenced Aircraft Engineers Association has been running an Aviation Industry Employee Engagement survey for the last 3 years. Last week Qantas advised staff that they had concluded their survey for this year and the result was 75% engaged. We don't believe the results and again ask if you can take the 10 minutes to complete this one which is based on similar questions and measurement methods as those conducted by airlines. You can do so by following the link here - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2015AVsurvey The ALAEA asks the same questions to employees from all companies so we can use it as a benchmark and see who the best employers are. Unlike the airlines, we will post the real results without being selective to protect KPI based bonuses. We've always had a great response from Pilots, Engineers and other hands on staff and even see ample responses from management. Beyond this opening I will post results from last years survey. If anyone has any questions feel free to fire away. cheers Steve Purvinas ALAEA Federal Secretary |
First graphic shows the 4 main airlines running around our region. Thnx for the big response from our Kiwi friends last year.

I think its great that QANTAS made it into the top 18 :E !
|
Big drop for Network who joined the Qantas group....
|
So.... It would be interesting to here from the Network guys/girls as to why !
|
My guess for both Network (forget their prop only days) and Alliance is both still had that initial start-up and expansion love going for them. Then both failed to deliver what their new employees were expecting and they finally saw the "truth"; flexibility was a one-way street.

Does the 717 operation come under QantasLink, or Cobham? 81.5% seems a bit high if it includes the 717.
|
717 work would depend who the employer is. Think for Tech Crew it is Cobham and Engineering was until a few weeks ago also. Has recently moved to QLink. These results were collected last year though, really need that new measure for this year with all the changes that are happening.

You should expect and engagement survey whenever there is an upcoming investor presentation. The results are stated to woo the investment circles and most probably fulfil the KPI's. I would love to see the whole transparency of it all to see how this 75% is calculated by Towers. It would be an interesting read. |
Could be as simple as just adding 50% to the 'real' score.
If you can hide a couple of billion in losses with no one caring, whats a couple of percent?? |
Just hit 500 responses guys in less than 2 days. Great work. If you haven't yet please take the few minutes to complete. The greater the number of responses, the more statistically sound the results will be.

Company engagement surveys
In my last company, if you responded to their engagement survey, you were considered to be sufficiently engaged to be counted as such. It did not matter what you said in the survey, good, bad or indifferent, you were considered engaged. Thus, lesson learnt, never submit to their surveys. I trust the ALAEA survey is different in that your responses dictate the survey result.

Qantas Engagement Survey
The thing that pi$$es me off with the Qantas Engagement Survey is the amount of emails, and visits, I get from my managers when the surveys are open. 3 levels of management sent numerous emails 'encouraging' everyone to respond. 2 levels of management came into the smoko room 'encouraging' people to fill out the survey. One manager told us to fill out the survey during 'company time', and when we joked about leaving an a/c standing off bay the response was "if that's what it takes". The response window for filling out the form was extended a couple of times as well.
Such enthusiasm by management would have to be motivated by their hip pocket, surely? I have never seen the results however. |
if you responded to their engagement survey, you were considered to be sufficiently engaged Would pretty much explain Millet Fanger's observations. |
Those who fill out the Qantas company survey will note that you can fill it out as many times as you like. Management get bonuses related to the result and thus get a financial reward for positive feedback. I think it almost certain that there are a bucket load of managers who fill the thing out at least 10 times each.
Complaints in the past about it not being accurate have been ignored. Any change would make it harder to rort the system. The real results will be published after the survey I have posted on here is closed. |
