AirAsia

An interesting piece on AirAsia.

AirAsia blames its dead for refund delays | Plane Talking

Something to watch, as one sign of possible financial difficulties or even collapse, is cancellation of services & failure to refund.

Troo believer 16th Mar 2015 04:37

Shonky from the get go. Wouldn't surprise me one iota if they go belly up.

It's no secret that Air Asia X are having financial problems. Staff have not been getting paid on-time lately.

That was way back in November 2014

apache 16th Mar 2015 11:21

Yes...... November 2014 was SUCH a long time ago!

320busdriver 16th Mar 2015 11:39

Don`t let sensationalism get in the way of the truth. My buddy is in X and he said the basic salary was paid on time but allowances e.g. night stop and per diems were paid a week later and this was in September/october not November so old story - move on nothing to see here :ugh:
X has made a lot of mistakes that there is no doubt, management has been totally revamped and I heard the founding pair are pumping in their own cash to sustain business but they have to do alot alot better with regards to refunds := - certainly not on when you have to wait months to get your money back through no fault of your own

There is an easy fix for this for the punters who were silly enough to book with a carrier that is in my "don't book" list.

The clients need to call their credit card provider and tell them that the service has been made unavailable and no alternative provided and as no service will be provided cancel the charge as it is now not valid and doesn't exist.

Simple.

Air Asia is a carrier I have directed passengers away from since inception and I am now glad that I did. Very sad about the lives lost and the hull loss, as well as the associated stain on the Industry but mistrust of ultra cheap runs deep in this one after many years in Domestic Airline management and other areas.

The message is - call the card company - kill the charge. It should immediately be reversed onto the card and the responsibility for proving the relevance of the charge goes back onto the Airline who in these cases have no recourse.

It would be wise to do it right now before the house of cards collapses. That will make it easier.

Also if a client has booked through an alleged agent it is likely that the charge on the card is showing in the agent company name. This is done so massively inflated service fees can be hidden. What after all does one expect when the staff are generally on a base plus have to make the rest off commission?

Just reverse it all the same. Serves the scamming bastards right.

I am sure Air Asia would not have made anyone aware of this, but it is law.

Best all

saw this is on another forum,

AirAsia To Sell Aircraft Worth RM7.39 Billion, Says Fernandes

AirAsia Bhd will sell aircraft, worth US$2 billion (RM7.39 billion), says Group Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said Friday.

"Ownership of aircraft is now coming into force. We have 150 aircraft which we will sell worth at least US$2 billion," he said in Twitter, the micro-blogging site.

He quashed talks that the airline was looking to raise equity.

"There is talk we are looking to raise equity. Completey wrong. At our share price why would we? Plus, we don't need cash. Cash is very strong with operational cash being very positive," he twitted.

Recently, AirAsia announced that it was reducing its stake in an online travel, agency AAE Travel Pte Ltd (AAE), from 50 per cent to 25 per cent.

It sold the 25 per cent shares to Expedia Inc for US$86.25 million (about RM318.75 million), gaining US$78.76 million (RM291 million) from the disposal.

Fernandes also said AirAsia's share price was the most undervalued share of all airlines in the world of matured airlines.

At 10.04 am, AirAsia's share price was flat at RM2.23.

think refund issue is complicated by passengers going to their bank if they paid with a credit card & asking the bank to refund.

So Air Asia has to be careful that people don't get refunded twice, once directly from Air Asia & once from bank doing a chargeback.

Adamastor 24th Mar 2015 02:39

I've flown Air Asia around 30 times over the last few years and have found them nothing short of brilliant. Clean, modern aircraft, attractive, friendly crew, nice food, affordable fares, great OTP. Indeed, I would say that in those categories they've far surpassed my experience on the local carriers. Crew training may well be to a lower standard - I can't say one way or the other, though I've got my suspicions. So why shouldn't an informed customer weigh up all those criteria that are important to them, and assess that the likelihood of coming unglued and not being saved by additional crew training over and above whatever is required to get approval to operate throughout the majority of the aviation world, is perhaps hundreds of thousands to one, consciously assess and take that risk, and purchase their ticket accordingly?

Adamastor. Another puerile post and ridiculous spiel that we hear over and over again at bbq's or dinner parties. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the likes of you and other 'weighing up the risks' and purchasing your tickets accordingly. Just don't run back here crying after you lose loved ones on that odd occasion when you screwed up the odds.

Hi BNEA320

I may have been unclear re the refunds situation.

What I was eluding to was in the case of carrier collapse.

There is no information that I have to indicate this is an imminent or likely situation, but just throwing out there that there are procedures in place that can protect the punters money.

I have at the insistence of regular Corporates booked them and others I rank way lower but am not comfortable until the revenue is flown.

My other point is why if a Carrier accepts all major credit cards does the charge from some Agency groups show as from the Agent and not the Carrier? Simple one this. Agent hiding vastly inflated service fees to supplement their pitiful base salary and providing the client with a tricked up pseudo e-ticket.

The main aim was to put out there that there is a way to negate a charge after collapse without having to fight it out with the carrier.

As for double dipping on refunds, you can be sure that once a charge is returned by an Airline they will have sufficient evidence in their accounting trail to produce to the card company to prove the reversal is in error.

Best regards

Adamaster:

I agree with 888 100% about your ignorant posting, I endure similar conversations with non-aviation friends who think a noce cabin/friendly cew is all that it takes.

So why shouldn't an informed customer weigh up all those criteria that are important to them, and assess that the likelihood of coming unglued and not being saved by additional crew training over and above whatever is required to get approval to operate throughout the majority of the aviation world
Are you really posing as an "informed customer"? What qualifies you to be this? Mate, if you even had an inkling of what goes on in AirAsia's flight decks (I could add several other carriers who friends laud for their "wonderful cabin service" as well), then you wouldn't touch them with a proverbial barge pole.
