Air New Zealand ATR 72-600

I see ZK-MVE has recently touched down in NZ. Does anyone know the timeframe on the next deliveries, specific dates too?

Would that have been the ANZ ATR which departed Brisbane Monday morning ahead of our Virgin 738 bound for POM

You won't find details on planespotter until about a month before delivery.
This is what I'm aware of, someone else may have more details.

ZK-MVF c/n 1185 -- delivery soon as c/n 1182 now delivered. (source ATDB)
ZK-MVG -- delivery first half of 2015 (source Air NZ Analyst Presentations)
ZK-MVH -- delivery second half 2015 (source Air NZ Analyst Presentations)
ZK-MVI -- delivery January 2016 (source 2014 Air NZ Annual Report)

Plus three options for delivery before the end of 2016. (source is the initial order Press Release)

Are these airframes as replacement to older aircraft or are some due to expansion?

PA 804 10th Oct 2014 18:13

Most of the 9 ATR72-600's ordered replace Q300's which replace 1900D's.

The 11 ATR72-500's remain but get a cabin upgrade. The 23 Q300's remain. The 18 1900D's reduce to 12 over the next year. ZK-EAL and ZK-EAA have already left and there will be further reductions. Air NZ has said GIS-WLG is expected to be Q300 in about 18 months, but with reduced frequency.

All of the 72-500 that I've been on recently have already had the cabin re-fit, which is just new seats to match the 72-600. The new seats are pretty good & even recline, but the general cabin also needs an refresh e.g wall panels and bulkheads.

Really wish they would install these seats on the Q300s as-well, as there seats are beyond horrible. Although I can see NZ adding an extra 20-25 ATR's (mix of 42/72-600s) to the fleet within the next 5 years see the Q300 leave.
