Vincent in receivership !!!

apparently Vincent (Australia) have gone into receivership this afternoon.

The rumoured sale must not have gone ahead.

Maybe potential purchaser, will now pick up the healthy bits.

dragon man 28th May 2014 06:43

Correct, are there any healthy bits? This is going to hurt a lot of people. I know of two small operators owed just under $100,000 each. How did the NSW government allow them to get awarded routes? Where was the due diligence?

wildcard11 28th May 2014 06:52

One can only hope that this is a short term hurdle. Aust Aviation can take many more hits.

Going Nowhere 28th May 2014 06:55

Looks like a few of the Saab's are being ferried to TSV today.

XPT 28th May 2014 07:31

wow that's quick. Why TSV ? That's where they used to live in a previous life under Macair if not mistaken.

V1 rotated 28th May 2014 07:40

So much for the NSW department of transport carrying out due diligence in granting route licences.

Fairfax's spin on the story...

waren9 28th May 2014 08:37

thats a real shame. i hope it doesn't drag down the nz operation and that the aussie guys can find something else again soon.

pineappledaz 28th May 2014 08:39

NZ Ops

I was told very recently that the Saab 340 was going to be used on some routes dropped by Eagle Air..and that 3 would be used in NZ..at least now we all know where they are coming from.

Blueskymine 28th May 2014 08:56

You can't make money running 1900s against metros and saabs against Brasilias.

Airnorth hardy and chartair have the topend stitched up.

waren9 28th May 2014 09:17

well, they started with a single f406, so they must've been doing something right at some point.

Skystar320 28th May 2014 09:27

But Hardy have put there entire Metro Fleet up for sale...

Skystar320 28th May 2014 09:28

With such a huge fleet and not many contracts, what actually happened? What did they actually do up in Darwin?

Flying Bear 28th May 2014 10:10

Presumably, management would have seen this coming, so can someone explain why less than a month ago they recruited new pilots for the Saab?

I am aware of at least one pilot who left his (obviously more solid) job to start at Vincent's, moved to Darwin and would have been there all of a week before this happened. Shame, because he was also ex-Brindies, so goes bust twice in six months...

Sad, but irresponsible, at least on appearances.

VH-VIN 28th May 2014 10:23

Sad day for everyone up there, it was at least 12 years ago when we finished the Timor operation and decided to get an Aussie AOC and stay up there, seemed a good idea at the time!
I am sure there will be a lot of finger pointing now but just think its another case of a company to big to be small and to small to be big. They are all terminal in this day and age.
Peter has helped so many people get a start over years, hope he can reap the rewards one day.

TBM-Legend 28th May 2014 10:35

Peter is long gone. Francis Mining Group from NZ owned it....
A shame for 80 or so folks.
Big $$$$ in the red I'm told.

Recruiting for the terminally ill

Hi Bear,

can someone explain why less than a month ago they recruited new pilots for the Saab?
I have a letter here from Ansett recruiting advancing me through to the final stage of recruitment on the 747 fleet.

It is dated Thursday 13 September 2001. :ugh:

Interesting, seeing as I was talking to him not more than a month ago just before he got back in the BAe 146 to go back to Brisbane.

It sounds like the are another victim of the downturn in mining. They had several contracts for FIFO when I was in Darwin but that is some time ago now. I should add that regional RPT is a fraught game as well.

004wercras 28th May 2014 12:06

Yep a real shame. Some good Drivers at Vincent, who now become a part of an ever declining industry. Sad day.
