Smoking QF

Gee am surprised no one has yet picked up on the QF flight that diverted to ADL due cargo smoke today.
Will be interesting how this runs as it has the 'Q' word in it:-)

and to see if the media can associate MH370 with it.

Well at least you know Geoffrey Thomas, aviation non-expert, won't be commenting.

Qantas plane makes emergency landing
Updated: 14:58, Friday April 4, 2014

A Qantas flight from Sydney to Perth has made an emergency landing in Adelaide after a smoke warning light was activated.

Qantas said the Airbus A330 had 253 passengers on board when it diverted to Adelaide Airport and landed without incident.

'The flight deck received a warning light indicating a technical issue, so as a safety precaution the pilots made the decision to divert to Adelaide,' the airline said in a statement.

'The aircraft landed without incident and passengers disembarked via normal procedure through the aerobridge.

'The aircraft is currently being assessed by engineers.'

Emergency service crews in Adelaide were put on standby but were not required.

A passenger on the plane said the incident was handled well by the crew.

'Everything went pretty smooth,' the passenger identified on ABC radio as Dave said.

'The pilot said he thought it was just a false alarm, but for safety they had to bring the plane back and evacuate everybody.

'The pilot did a great job and the flight attendants did a really good job keeping everybody under control.'

Thought it was a false alarm!!

How do you really know for sure that it's not real?
Just because the floor doesn't get warm or there is no smoke in the cabin or the cargo temps look normal or there are no dangerous goods on the NOTOC doesn't necessarily mean.........

Who knows what's in the pax baggage......

What they should do is install video cameras in the holds that can also see thermal images.

Then you'd have a good idea what was going on.....

'Para377 GT is too busy trying to wade thru reason No 345654 as to why/where the MH plane is & make it No 345655!
The media are saying that the Central Coast Mariners where amongst the pax, hmmm that makes a newsworthy comment?:ugh:
I guess footy players are worth more than Mr & Mrs Public:-(

Gotta feel for the families/relatives now re MH370, talk about total frustration!

What they should do is install video cameras in the holds
With the obstructed view provided by a full complement of structural ULDs you would need a lot of cameras to see anything in time.

Cargo744 4th Apr 2014 09:03

In other breaking news 500 cars diverted from their intended destinations in Sydney today. Journalists are ambulance chasing grubs.

nitpicker330 4th Apr 2014 12:25

True I've never been in the holds when they have containers loaded. However surely you could place a few cheap cameras here and there to see something?

Anything is better than nothing surely?

Iron Bar 4th Apr 2014 20:37

And when the cheap camera shorts and catches fire?

This is not news, move on.

Buttscratcher 5th Apr 2014 04:13

Can I jump in here with your thoughts of pulling up to an Aerobridge with a Smoke/fire warning in the cargo bays
Just food for thought, but there are refueling points and other aircraft in close proximity
Not hating, just asking opinions
