Do ANY Australian international airlines actually derive a profit from the routes they fly?

If they do...

Which airlines?

Which routes?

Can they only survive on routes with no competition?

Anyone? Yep... I thought so.

No international airlines based here. Domestic airlines with foreign ownership & back to a duopoly with their associated subsidiaries.

Another industry sacrificed to save a buck.

This country has some serious issues... in the medium to long term.

Good one. You're all over it mate. A real bloody genius. Get back to your trolling.

I don't know a lot about the Australian aviation industry but there are some parallels with SAA, also massively loss making and ineptly run. SAA is run by and for the politicians who are currently the flavour of the month, I don't think the same applies to QF although JJ does seem to be a reject from the moron store.

Both derive their core business from longhaul routes, both are 'end of the route' with not much onward transfer traffic other than domestic and regional.
